[ARCHIVED] Fox Sightings

Police have received multiple calls regarding Fox Sightings.

Please read the attached link for more information on coexisting with fox in our neighborhoods.

Milltown Police and The NJ Department of Fish and Wildlife ask that if residents are feeding the fox to stop immediately. Feeding the fox will condition the fox to believe that “people mean food”, encouraging the wildlife to appear brazen.

The fox that we have been observing appears to be exhibiting normal behavior, however there have been reports of a fox that appears to be rabid. If you encounter a fox on or near your property you should not approach any wild animals. You should make loud, scary noises by banging metal pot tops together when the animal is nearby or spray the animal’s hindquarters with a hose. Please report each sighting to Milltown Police 732-828-1100 or by reporting a concern on this website so individual fox behavior can be reported to Animal Control.

A fox exhibiting normal fox behavior WILL NOT be trapped or relocated.
