Milltown Utility Department will begin Fire Hydrant Flushing September 29th. Flushing will take place during the day from 8:30 am to 5 pm. Flushing of hydrants is an essential part of water system maintenance and a compliance requirement for the DEP. Flushing removes sediments and iron oxide from the piping. Harmless discolored water is possible during the process and it is recommended to refrain from doing laundry while flushing is taking place. Flushing will continue daily until completed.
