[ARCHIVED] Cancellation of 2020 Summer Recreation Programming

Dear Families:

We hope this letter finds you and your family well. As you know, we have been closely monitoring the ongoing developments related to COVID-19 since the onset of this global pandemic. We have examined countless possibilities and scenarios along with contingency plans regarding our programs for the Summer of 2020 and we actively studied and reviewed the regulations, requirements and guidelines set forth by Center for Disease Control, Board of Health and the State of New Jersey.

The pride and unity that we all have come to know in Milltown is what makes our little town shine even in the most diverse circumstances.

Therefore, it is with deep sadness and profound disappointment that we are canceling all Summer Programs for 2020. This includes, the Milltown Borough Pool, the Milltown Summer SACC Program and the Milltown Albert Avenue Summer Recreation Camp.

Parents entrust us with that which is most precious to them, their children. This trust is the foundation of our partnership and we consider it to be a valuable asset. The current guidance from the sources we’ve reviewed, indicate that we cannot expect to operate this summer without a risk of infection. Given both the Pool and Camp environment, we feel we cannot operate and take the risk that our program’s experience might promote further spread of this virus to both you, your child and our staff. We want us all, to be able to come together next year, whole and ready to take on the Summer better than ever.

We thank you and appreciate your understanding and patience throughout this time. Our hope is that you will be able to persevere with hope and good health through this trying time. If you should have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Recreation Department at 732-828-2100 ext. 141.
